Is the NBA Finishing Their Season at Walt Disney World?
The NBA season came to an abrupt halt on March 11, 2020 as the COVID-19 crisis began to unfold before our eyes. (It was just a day after that when Walt Disney World announced that they would be closing for an extended period.) After the NBA suspended their season, several other professional sports league followed suit by postponing or suspending their season. Since, then they’re hasn’t really been much live sports for us to enjoy.

That all might soon be coming to an end thanks to Walt Disney World! Rumors and speculation continue to mount that the NBA might be coming to the Florida Resort to finish their 2019-2020 season!
Over the past several weeks, we have seen Tweets like this on Twitter:
Disney chairman Bob Iger presented to the league’s board of governors today via video conference.
(Unrelated, Disney’s massive Central Florida campus has been talked about by some Florida lawmakers as a possible site for a resumption of NBA games.)

If you think about it, the NBA at Walt Disney World would make sense. It would give players and staff one central location to sequester in with access to world-class facilities at the ESPN Wide World of Sports. The players and staff would have to stay at the Walt Disney World Resort Hotels which would, of course, take those out of inventory for paying Guests. However, in order to reopen in some capacity, the Parks will have to temporarily limit capacity, so the reduced hotel rooms might not be an issue.
In order for this to happen, it is likely that fans will not be permitted into the games and COVID-19 tests would be required for all players and team personnel.

There are several scenarios in play for the NBA to return this year. But, it seems the one where they come to Walt Disney World is gaining traction. Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks, said on ESPN this week that anything is possible.
