VIDEO: Last Family Leaving Disney World Before the Shutdown
The Porter family was the last family to leave Disney’s Riviera Resort at Walt Disney World before the shutdown that happened on March 15th.
They arrived during the Coronavirus outbreak and decided to make a go of their family vacation.
‘Once we arrived, we were told that all parks and hotels would soon be closing,’ the family told ViralHog video.
‘On our last day at Disney World, our resort manager at the Riviera Hotel told us that we were the last family in the resort and area to leave Disney World’. ‘As we were walking to our shuttle, the entire staff lined up outside of the hotel to wave goodbye to my family and thank us for being a part of history.
‘It was an amazing experience.’
This closure is slated to be the longest in Walt Disney World history. Previous closures include during Hurricane Floyd (1999) and for Charley, Frances and Jeanne in (2004.) Walt Disney World closed again due to Hurricane Matthew (2016) and Irma (2017.) The parks were also closed during the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington DC on September 11, 2001
