Animal Kingdom Announces Multi-Day Celebration to Celebrate 50 Years of Earth Day
This year marks the 50th of Earth Day! And, to celebrate, Animal Kingdom has just announced a multi-day celebration with special entertainment, activities, and once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
Beginning April 18 until April 22, Earth Day, Animal Kingdom will offer an incredible lineup of guest speakers and entertainment; behind-the-scenes tours; specialty food and beverage options; limited-edition merchandise signings; character greetings; photo opportunities; special Wilderness Explorers activities for kids; and much more!
Wild by Nature and National Geographic Speaker Series
During this Earth Day-themed speaker series, Guests are invited to hear from some of Animal Kingdom’s animal experts, educators and conservation “Heroes” at the Park’s Theater in the Wild. Participants will learn about the ways Disney’s own conservation experts are working to save the planet and its wildlife.
In addition, Nat Geo Explorers and Photographers will be on hand to share their first-hand stories of exploring. If you have ever wanted to learn what it takes to get those never-before-seen footage of animals in the wild, you are in luck as the wildlife photographers will also be sharing their video and photo techniques. New National Geographic merchandise will also be debuted!
Tiffins Talks with Joe Rohde
If you have ever wanted to meet iconic Walt Disney Imagineer Joe Rohde, this is your chance! As you probably know, Joe has been the driving force in the past, present, and future of Animal Kingdom. During Tiffins Talks offered during the Parks’ Earth Day celebration, Joe will be sharing details from research trips and personal exhibitions from a life dedicated to the magic of exploration. In addition, Guests participating in Tiffins Talks are treated to a delicious four-course meal. Reservations for Tiffins Talks open on February 18.
Behind-the-Scenes Look at DisneyNature Films
Two new DisneyNature films, Elephant and Dolphin Reef, are set to premiere on Disney+ this April. Guests at Animal Kingdom for the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day will be able to get a behind-the-scenes look at both of these movies as the award-winning producer of both films,Roy Conli, will be on hand.
25th Anniversary of the Disney Conservation Fund
In addition to the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day, 2020 also marks the 25th Anniversary of the Disney Conservation Fund. This fund was set up to ensure we all live in a world where wildlife thrives and nature is treasured.
Stories from the Field
During the Earth Day Celebration at Animal Kingdom, the Disney Conservation Fund will profile 25 global wildlife heroes. During Stories from the Field, 25 global wildlife heroes will share stories of their work adventures of saving at-risk wildlife from all over the planet. Expect to hear stories about elephants and rhinos in Africa, to tamarins and anteaters in South America. Most of the stories will also be published in a book “Disney Conservation Legacy” that will be available for purchase during the multi-day event.
Animation Experience at Conservation Station
If you have ever wanted to learn how to Disney animators bring your favorite Disney characters to life with the help of real animals, a FastPass for the Animation Experience at Conservation Station in Disney’s Animal Kingdom is a must! For Earth Day Celebrations, Animation Experience will be offering special Disney Characters.
Earth Day Celebration Outside of Animal Kingdom
If you can’t make it to Animal Kingdom for the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day, no worries at all! Animal Kingdom will be featured in the global television event, “BORN WILD: EARTH DAY LIVE.” The show, which will be aired on National Geographic and Nat Geo WILD, will air on April 22 and will be produced by ABC News. It will feature National Geographic Explorers, and ABC News anchors, and ABC News correspondents that will take viewers on a journey into the most fascinating, breathtaking environments around the world to witness and celebrate the diversity and splendor of charismatic baby animals, their families and habitats.
