The Grand Californian Gingerbread House is Made of Sugar and Spice & Everything Nice
The Gingerbread House at Disney’s Grand Californian Resort & Spa at the Disneyland Resort has to be seen to be believed! For starters, the house stands tall at 7 1/2 feet tall and 12 feet wide and decorated with some pretty sweet details. In addition, here is what it takes to bring this creation to life:
- 600 pounds of gingerbread
- 250 pounds of fondant
- 12 gallons of egg whites
- 3.5 gallons of lemon juice
- 1 pound of “pixie dust” glitter
- 16 bakers
- 6 craftsmen (carpenters and draftsmen)
- 2 electricians
- 1,225 cast member hours to design and craft
- 1,400 hours to bake edible elements

A Grand Gingerbread House Experience invites Guests to work with the extra talented pastry chefs who whipped up the Grand Californian’s Gingerbread House to make a mini replica for themselves. Guests taking advantage of this family-friendly event are even treated to hot cocoa and cookies!
A Grand Gingerbread House Experience is offered at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa from 2-3:30 p.m. on December 11, 20, 21, 22 and 23.
