A Photo Tour of the New Stave Church Gallery Exhibit
The royal sisters from Arendelle have done a great job of using their regal popularity to take over the Norway Pavilion in Epcot. Before the massive success of Frozen, the Pavilion’s focus was on the culture and creativity of native Norwegians and how falling back on their heritage and traditions have made modern Norway the country it is today. Maelstrom took us on a mighty journey through the land filled with shippers, merchants, and a few trolls too. Kringla Bakery served traditional foods, and the Church Gallery featured art exhibits by real Norwegians.
Fast-forward to January 2018. Maelstrom is no longer sailing the Norwegian waters, having been replaced by Frozen Ever After. While the exhibit in the Stave Church Gallery features images and art research done in Norway, the theme of the exhibit is Frozen-based. Even the topiaries during Flower and Garden Festival are in the likeness of Elsa and Anna! The Frozen fever has officially spread to Epcot, and fans of the originally conceived World Showcase are not pleased at the turn this Pavilion has taken…until now.
Believe it or not, there is something new and exciting in the Norway Pavilion that has absolutely nothing to do with Frozen! I’m as big of a fan of ‘Let It Go’ as every 8 year old girl, but I’m really excited about the replacement of the Frozen exhibit in the Stave Church Gallery! Don’t get me wrong- Frozen is definitely a permanent fixture in the Pavilion- but the newly opened Gods of the Vikings exhibit should reassure World Showcase purists that the vision of the park is still in the forefront of the Imagineers’ brilliant minds. Let’s have some fun and take a look inside!
Gods of the Vikings
Exhibits like this one give us little peeks into worlds far beyond the one we’ve known; that’s one thing I love about Epcot and World Showcase. Another thing that I love? They’re always rotating! If you’re a Disney Parks veteran, make sure you’re checking out the art galleries each time you visit, because you never know what might be new! Here’s a fun mission for you: after you explore the Gods of the Vikings gallery, head over to the American Adventure- rumor has it they’ve just opened up a spiffy new exhibit in their gallery too! Have you been to either of the new exhibits yet?
