MickeyBlog’s Vero Beach Review
Disney’s Vero Beach Resort is located right along the Atlantic coastline, with direct access to the warm ocean waters! The resort does not only have a beautiful location, but it shares space with the nesting grounds of the Loggerhead Sea Turtles. This offers an incredible experience to guests to join an outing in the summer months to observe these creatures during their nesting season. Or for kids to take part in a program to learn all about sea turtles and their behaviors. At the end, the kids can even “adopt” a sea turtle and watch its development online from home! While at the resort, you will notice that no exterior lights are facing the ocean, this is to allow the moonlight to guide the hatchlings to the ocean. The resort was specifically designed, honoring Walt’s conservation initiatives, to create a minimal impact on the turtles’ nesting habits.
I was fortunate enough to visit Disney’s Vero Beach Resort for the first time recently, and let me tell you, Disney never disappoints! I took the kids to visit my in-laws in South Florida and at the last minute, we decided to do a quick overnight trip to Vero Beach, which was a very easy 2-hour ride up the Turnpike! I wanted to share with you all that the resort has to offer!
Accommodations
The resort has a variety of accommodations to suit families of all sizes! There are standard hotel rooms located in the Main Inn, as well as Deluxe Studios, 1-bedroom Villas, 2-bedroom Villas and a limited number of 3-bedroom Grand Villas. No matter how many are in your party or how many nights you plan to stay, there are several options available to you! Main Inn rooms offer 2 queen beds, while Deluxe Studios have 1 queen bed and 1 double-sized sleeper sofa. Both rooms have a kitchenette area and a private porch or balcony. 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom villas offer guests king and/or queen beds, a master bedroom with master bathroom, fully-equipped kitchen and washer/dryer.
We booked an ocean view room in the main inn. The room was very nice, spacious and clean and the view was absolutely stunning! There is nothing like enjoying your morning coffee or an evening glass of wine while listening to the waves and taking in the beauty of the ocean. We also loved that the kitchenette was fully stocked with plates, bowls, glasses, and silverware! These items came in handy when we decided to order in for dinner since there were a couple of very tired kids in our room!
Dining
Anyone who knows me knows how much I love character breakfasts…so as you can imagine, when I was able to grab a last-minute reservation for Goofy’s Beachfront Breakfast at Seagrape, I was beyond excited! I found out that we would be meeting Goofy and Donald, so I made a quick stop at Michael’s to get photo mats for them sign and crossed my fingers for some good pictures that I could frame when we got home! It was a fun breakfast with great character interaction! The restaurant is on the smaller side, so you end up getting a few visits from each character. We got autographs and lots of photos…Donald even tried stealing some of our food on his way by! The breakfast was a buffet, which consisted of fresh fruit, pastries, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes and, of course, Mickey waffles! It was the perfect way to start our day!
There are several other dining options available, ranging from casual, counter-service meals to elegant dinners! Wind & Waves Market offers convenient quick-service breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is located right next to the pool, so it is a popular choice for many families. There are 2 lounges for the adults in your group. Wind & Waves Bar is located next to the pool and The Green Cabin Room is located in the main inn and offers an ocean view balcony. If you are looking for a sit-down meal, you will want to visit Wind & Waves Grill, in the main inn, for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
If you are thinking of doing some sightseeing of the nearby area, there are plenty of dining and takeout options all around. The concierge was happy to provide us with an extensive list of restaurants in the area.
Recreation
We really hit the jackpot with the weather! We were told that there had been about 4 weekends in a row of rain. Well, when we were there, it was nothing but blue skies and bright sunshine! We spent most of the first day at the Mickey-shaped pool. There was a DJ playing awesome music and leading the kids in pool games all afternoon! We loved the spiral shaped, lighthouse water slide! My son must’ve gone down this about 100 times! There were even water slide races for the whole family! There were pool noodles all around for everyone’s use and lifejackets available for anyone who wanted one. My daughter loved just floating around the pool in her puddle jumper, splashing, kicking her feet and watching the kids race down the slide. She started off in the splash pad area and loved that, but couldn’t resist being with the big kids in the Mickey pool!
There is also a private beach, where you can rent beach chairs and umbrellas, making a perfect day of relaxation! Or if you are looking for more adventure, you should check out the kayaks, banana boats, jet skis, sailboats and boogie boards available to rent as well. These looked like a ton of fun, but when it comes to a day at the beach, I tend to be more of a “take in the sun, listen to the ocean and build sandcastles” kind of girl!
For those needing a break from the pool and beach, there is still plenty to do! There is a 9-hole pirate themed miniature golf course, a playground area, basketball, volleyball, tennis, archery, bocce ball, board games and a ton of scheduled activities for kids and teens to take part in, including bingo, scavenger hunts, sandcastle building contests and arts & crafts. You can also rent a bike, go fishing or learn how to surf. If that’s not enough, you can hit the fitness room, play golf on a nearby course or just rent a dvd and relax in your room! Just be sure to also make your way to the nightly campfire, complete with sing-a-longs and s’mores!
As you can tell, we had an amazing weekend! There is so much to do, that I’ve already decided that we need to book another trip to enjoy all the activities!
If you are considering a trip to Disney’s Vero Beach, my only suggestion is to do it! We can’t wait to go back! Want to book a trip? Feel free to reach out to me for a FREE quote and get ready to pack your bags!
