The American Music Awards honors artists in multiple musical genres, including Pop/Rock, Alternative Rock, Country, Rap/Hip-Hop, Soul/R&B, Adult Contemporary, Contemporary Inspirational, Latin, EDM and Soundtrack, alongside awards for New Artist of the Year, Collaboration of the Year, Tour of the Year, Video of the Year, Favorite Song and Artist of the Year.
The “2018 American Music Awards,” saw Taylor Swift break the record for most AMA wins ever by a female artist. She brought home an astounding 23. This surpassed Whitney Houston’s record of 21. Swift and Camila Cabello also led the night with four trophies each. Furthermore, Kane Brown and Cardi B each took home three awards. The show also featured a moving tribute to the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin. Performances for this tribute were by Gladys Knight, CeCe Winans, Donnie McClurkin, Ledisi and Mary Mary.
American Music Awards nominees are based on key fan interactions as reflected in Billboard Magazine and on Billboard.com , including album and digital song sales, radio airplay, streaming, social activity and touring. Furthermore, Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound track these measurements.
The “2019 American Music Awards” is also produced by dick clark productions.
