Back by popular demand, March Magic makes its mighty return this week, marking the 5th consecutive year of the tournament! If you’re not familiar, March Madness is the NCAA basketball tournament that everyone I know goes bracket-crazy over every year. Blindly picking favorites based on uniform colors with no knowledge of college basketball has thus far proven to be an unsuccessful way of creating a bracket- I’ve even tried crossing my fingers to no avail. As they say, knowledge is power!
I’m much more well-versed in Disney attractions and experiences than I am in college basketball, so when Walt Disney World officially announced the return of March Magic for a 5th consecutive year, I turned my attention away from the NCAA and to a bracket I have confidence in filling out!
If you’re an avid follower of the yearly March Magic tournament like me or if this is your first time getting in on the fun, there are some basic guidelines everyone should brush up on before playing. Unlike previous years where both Disneyland and Walt Disney World participated in the game, Walt Disney World is the lone player in 2018, making the competition shorter in length. 8 attractions from Walt Disney World Resort square off in the battle for the title of March Magic Champion. So where do we come in? Right about now!
Bay Lake Monorailers- Based on – you guessed it – the Bay Lake Monorail loop.
Statler and Waldorf Hecklers- this one is tough, but if you need a hint, you should ask Kermit the Frog or Miss Piggy for a clue.
Voices of Liberty Harmonizers- The singers from the American Adventure in Epcot join this year’s lineup
Tomorrowland Movers- The defending champs! This team gets its inspiration from the Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemover
Fantasy Mickey Bar Freezers- A team dedicated to Mickey Bars??? They might be my favorite…
The Liberty Belles- Are you all aboard for the Liberty Belles? If you’re a fan of the leisurely boat ride in Magic Kingdom, cast your vote for them!
World Showcase Explorers- An appropriate homage to the guests who can’t get enough of World Showcase.

Now that we’ve met the teams, it’s time to pick your favorites to win! Simply fill out your bracket that you’ve printed to pick your favorite. In order to cast your vote for real, you’ll have to head to Walt Disney World’s Facebook page every day of the tournament to vote for your team! March Magic? More like ‘Merch Magic’!
True basketball fans- and sports fans in general- show their team support by donning hats, jerseys, and sweatshirts with their teams’ logo emblazoned on the front to let the world know who they’re supporting…and we get to do the same during March Magic! Shopdisney.com has released special, limited edition March Magic merchandise that will be available for purchase during the duration of the tournament. Don’t be a fair weather fan and wait for the tournament to end before picking up your merch- support your favorite team from the getgo by shopping early and maximizing your support via apparel. Here are some of my favorites from this year’s offerings.
If you can’t decide on a favorite team, you can grab a tumbler cup whose design includes all the team logos. But there’s no fun in being in the middle, who is your favorite team? Although they’re not competing (the jury is out as to why), my favorite of all the designs is by far the Fantasmic Dreamers. Is it the awesome Maleficent design? Or am I biased because Fantasmic! is my favorite attraction? Well either way, I’m definitely going to pick up a hoodie before time is up. Which is your favorite? Let us know in the comments below, and may the best attraction win!
