Bob Iger Talks ‘Inside Out 3’ and Previews ‘Moana 2’ Ahead of D23: The Ultimate Fan Event
As Bob Iger gets set to kick off D23: The Ultimate Fan Experience in Anaheim today, the Disney CEO is riding high.
After a difficult 2023 at the box office, Disney has come roaring back this year with a couple of record-breaking films. With Inside Out 2 now the highest-grossing animated film of all time and Deadpool & Wolverine shattering records for an R-rated film and proving that superhero fatigue has not set in, Iger has every reason to be jumping for joy.

Add in the company’s strong Q3 earnings, which included the revelation that Disney has achieved profitability in streaming, and it is clear that brighter days have arrived for Disney.
Bob Iger Discusses the Importance of Storytelling
In an interview with Good Morning America before D23 kicks off today, Iger explained that Disney’s recent successes are due to their commitment to creativity and storytelling.

“Every single transaction that this company experiences emanates from great creativity and great storytelling. It all starts right there,” Iger began.
“And when I returned to the company in 2022 … it was very, very clear to me that we had to put creativity back to basically the center of this company.”
In an ever-evolving media landscape, Iger says storytelling remains the bedrock of the Disney experience.

“I started at ABC 50 years ago, so I’ve been in the entertainment business in some form or another for five decades, and over that period of time, almost everything has changed,” Iger said.
“One thing has not changed, and that is the importance of and the power of storytelling, and the need for people and the want of people to be entertained, and I think that’s probably never been as true as it is today. It’s something the world needs.”
Will There Be an ‘Inside Out 3’?
Iger’s commitment to creativity has paid off in a big way this year with the success of Deadpool & Wolverine and Inside Out 2.

After lauding Pixar’s latest release, Iger admitted that he “would love” to see an Inside Out 3 film made.
“I’ll just leave it at that,” he added.
Previewing ‘Moana 2’
With two blockbusters in the rearview mirror, Disney still has more to look forward to. Perhaps the company’s most anticipated upcoming release will be Moana 2, which is set to hit theaters this November.

Previewing the film, Iger teased that a new Disney star could be on the way.
“We learned in the first film just what an unbelievable adventurer Moana is. And I can only say that she is going to prove that yet again to us,” Iger said.

“And she has a great relationship with her younger sister, who is kind of a breakout star of the film to come in many ways.”
