Oracle CEO Safra Catz Exits The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors
Safra Catz, the CEO of Oracle, has resigned from her seat on The Walt Disney Company board of directors. According to an SEC filing, Catz informed the board of her decision on Thursday. With the Oracle CEO’s exit, the Disney board will now shrink from 12 to 11 members.
“I’ve been honored to serve on Disney’s Board, and I am especially proud of the work we’ve done to fortify the company’s unparalleled strengths and continue its rich legacy of innovation,” Catz said in a statement.

“As I leave the Board today, I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Bob and his talented leadership team, and the accomplished members of the Disney Board. I wish the company and its employees every success in the future.”
Why Catz Is Leaving
According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, Catz’s departure was due in part to Oracle chairman Larry Ellison helping to finance a takeover of Paramount Global. That deal would see Ellison’s son, David Ellison, take charge at Paramount. Catz reportedly wanted to avoid a potential conflict of interest.
With the spector of Nelson Peltz no longer hovering over The Walt Disney Company, it seems that the time was right for Catz to exit.
