Disney+ on Apple Vision Will Usher In Immersive Environments and 3D Movies
Beginning February 2, Disney fans will experience their favorite stories like they never have before when Disney is on Apple Vision Pro launches.
Disney+ subscribers with a Vision Pro device will be able to stream their favorite shows and movies in a new way, completely transforming their space into Disney landscapes.
“At Disney, we’re constantly searching for new ways to entertain, inform, and inspire by combining exceptional creativity with groundbreaking technology to create truly remarkable experiences,” said Bob Iger.
“Apple Vision Pro is a revolutionary platform that will bring our fans closer to the characters and stories they love while immersing them more deeply in all that Disney has to offer. We’re proud to once again be partnering with Apple to bring extraordinary new Disney experiences to people around the world.”
Explore Immersive Environments
When the new experience launches, viewers can transform their space into one of four Disney+ environments. Each environment includes animations and sounds that make the space feel alive. Also, be sure to look out for Easter Eggs.
The four environments will include the Disney+ Theater, which was inspired by the historic El Capitan Theatre, the Scare Floor from Monsters Inc., Avengers Tower overlooking Manhattan, and the cockpit of Luke Skywalker’s land speeder, which will face a sunset on Tatooine.
The environments were created using the Universal Scene Description (USD) format. The format was originally developed by Pixar and open-sourced in 2016.
USD allows developers to “work simultaneously and collaboratively across creation tools and development pipelines to compose complex 3D experiences, at scale, across many applications, and in real-time.”
Select Titles Will Be Released in 3D
In addition to streaming the entire Disney+ catalog, subscribers with an Apple Vision Pro will also be able to watch 3D movies like never before. Among the dozens of titles available to watch in 3D will be Avatar: The Way of Water, Avengers: Endgame, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Elemental, and Encanto.
More titles exclusive to Disney+ subscribers will also be announced at a later date.
For Apple Vision Pro users who do not have a Disney+ subscription, select 3D movies will be available through the “Store” tab of the Apple TV app.
With the launch of Disney+ on Apple Vision Pro, a new era of streaming and storytelling has arrived. I can’t wait to see what Disney does next.
