The Disney Springs Restaurant You Have to Try…But Not for the Food!
Disney Springs has become the Mecca for foodies and Disney lovers everywhere, but what if we told you we recommend going to a restaurant that doesn’t necessarily have great food…
Planet Hollywood at Disney Springs is an absolute must do for any movie lover! Seriously! This restaurant doesn’t just have memorabilia, it is the Smithsonian of movie props!
Taking a look around, you will find iconic props like the paint cans from the Home Alone movies, the hockey stick from “Happy Gillmore”, the dress from Katniss Everdeen, and the games outfit of poor little Rue in “Hunger Games”, and so much more!
One of my favorites was Dottie’s Rockford Peaches baseball uniform and catcher’s mit from “A League of Their Own”.
Here it is, the Italian Stallion’s robes and gloves from the best Rocky movie ever made, Rocky IV! Next to it was Apollo Creed’s entrance outfit from that infamous last fight. *Sigh*
He was quite the showman in the “Coming to America” number, and to be quite honest, the movie didn’t do it justice. The Uncle Sam inspired jacket was individually beaded! If only they had the sweaty American flag that Rocky wore after the big win!
The Wizard of Oz amazed audiences in 1937 as the first ever movie to appear in color. This movie is still iconic and a symbol almost 100 years later! In a special museum case at the entrance of the restaurant is Dorothy’s dress… The dress.
The blue gingham dress is displayed in a special case that has limited light to protect the dress. It’s crazy to look at an item in person that you have seen on screen, but it’s a wild concept to look at the famous dress from a movie that my great grandparents saw in theaters.
We don’t want to tell every cool item this pop culture museum has to offer, but we have one more item to share. Perhaps the most divisive movie prop in history… The famous floating door from “Titanic”.
Our group was divided even after seeing it in person. What do you think? Do you think Rose could have shared the door with Jack? I mean seriously, look at it! Let me tell you, that door will create all of the table conversation that you’ll need for the night!
Planet Hollywood at Disney Springs has 3 floors filled with items, props, and costumes from huge cult classic movies like Beetlejuice!
The catch? You have to have a dinner reservation to go in and look around. The good news is that according to the My Disney Experience App, there are almost always reservations available!
About the Restaurant
Planet Hollywood is a chain restaurant but because of the uniqueness of the items, every restaurant is very different in terms of displays.
The food is nothing to write home about, but rest assured, it’s not bad. It’s basically like an expensive Applebees. We ordered some souvenir cocktails because we were feeling a little “extra” and some chicken wings.
Admittedly, it was a lame meal, but we really wanted to just see the stuff! The wings were a bit pricey, but they were good and done well!
It really wouldn’t matter what you order because you are so excited talking and sharing about the cool items that you saw!
