Comparing Avengers Campus, Galaxy’s Edge
There are many key differences between Disney California Adventure’s Avengers Campus and Galaxy’s Edge at Walt Disney World and Disneyland…
Firstly, if you are not following the byline of Brady MacDonald, usually from OCR.com, do yourself a favor and lock that down.

Secondly, I wanted to point to a terrific piece from Brady, who worked to really break down the differences between the storytelling at Galaxy’s Edge and Avengers Campus. Obviously, there are real similarities between the world-building on the Marvel and Star Wars sides of the company. But how the two worlds are presented is quite stark (pun intended).
Between The Campus & Edge
Perhaps the greatest difference is noted by MacDonald, here:

The new “Loki” show takes place after the events of “Avengers: Endgame” — but that doesn’t matter in the new Marvel land. Avengers Campus isn’t trapped in a restrictive fictional timeline like Galaxy’s Edge — which keeps some of the most iconic Star Wars characters and newest Disney+ stars out of Batuu, the intergalactic setting for the 14-acre land.
Thor’s wicked brother was already among the 16 Marvel superheroes and supervillains prowling Avengers Campus on opening day. Now Loki is set to make appearances in Avengers Campus in his Time Variance Authority prison uniform— complete with a pair of TVA Minutemen guards at his side.

Thinking Ahead
Now, from a fan point of view, I am fine with both approaches.
However, I hope that the timelines at Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland and Wald Disney World diverge at some point. How cool would it be to see Original Trilogy characters and the Mandalorian on one coast, with Kylo Ren, Rey, and the gang on the other?

Rise of the Resistance seems to be the lone roadblock in building that out, but would it be that hard to retrofit Darth Vader into the Kylo role in that role? And, of course, the Millennium Falcon has been around for much of the Skywalker timeline, so Smuggler’s Run could be adapted, as well.
Better yet, figure out a way to have both parks cycle through their storytelling seasonally, with the stage show aspects of the land coming to the forefront in a post-pandemic environment.

Meanwhile, MacDonald hinted that some of the above may have been on the table anyway.
Either way, both parks will certainly benefit from the development of the other.
