Will Face Coverings and Park Reservations Be Required at Walt Disney World Water Parks?
After almost one year, Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park will officially reopen at Walt Disney World on March 7, 2021! Since Walt Disney World announced the re-opening of the Water Park, many have wondered if face coverings will be required during their visit. Another popular question has been if Guests will be required to make an advanced Disney Park Pass reservation to visit the Water Parks. Today, I have answers to both!
When it comes to the requirement of face coverings, the answer is yes and no. Face coverings will be required at Walt Disney World Water Parks by all Guests ages 2 and up in select areas including the entrance, exit, retail locations, and when ordering food and beverages. However, they will NOT be required when enjoying the park’s water slides or in the water. They are also not required if you are actively eating or drinking while stationary.
Currently, to visit one of the four Walt Disney World Theme Parks, every Guest 2 and older is required to have a valid admission along with a Disney Park Pass reservation made in advance. Once Blizzard Beach reopens, these Disney Park Pass reservations are NOT required but may be in the future.
The following is the official statement from Walt Disney World about their face cover requirements at Water Parks:
Like other areas of the Walt Disney World Resort, we will welcome back Guests and Cast Members to Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park in a responsible way, with a plan focused on health and well-being. When Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park reopens, it will operate in alignment with the health and safety protocols implemented throughout the Walt Disney World Resort, including reduced capacity, temperature screenings, physical distancing markings and face coverings.
Face coverings will be required in designated areas for Guest age 2 and up, including but not limited to the park entrance, exit, retail areas, and food and beverage ordering areas. Face coverings will not be permitted while experiencing water slides or in the water. You may also removed your face covering while actively eating or drinking, but you must be stationary and maintain appropriate physical distancing.
At this time a park reservation is not required to visit a water park, however, reservation requirements are subject to change. Water parks are subject to rehabilitation, seasonal weather, and capacity closures.
At this time, the only Walt Disney World Water Park that is scheduled to reopen is Disney’s Blizzard Beach on March 7. Tickets just went on sale this week. A reopening date for Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon is yet to be announced.
