Gertie is Under Construction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Well, well, well — it looks like our favorite Dino is getting a bit of a makeover!
We’re over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios today, where some activity at Echo Lake has caught our eye.
Gertie — the iconic, snow-capped dinosaur who resides in the water — seems to be having some work done. Let’s take a closer look!
We’re not sure whether she’s unwell or just looking to prepare her summer body, but it definitely appears that something of a refurbishment is happening.
As you can see from our photos, the lake water level has been lowered, and Gertie’s tail has been wrapped up.
It looks a bit like a bandage!
Thankfully, Gertie is keeping a brave face through it all.
If you’re unfamiliar with Gertie, this dinosaur actually houses a small snack and ice cream spot right here on Echo Lake. During the holidays, she even sports a very fetching Santa Hat that never fails to brighten our day!
It’s a great place to visit for a quick refuel before you catch Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, located just across the way.
We can’t say for sure what work exactly is being carried out here, but we’d imagine it is general maintenance or refurbishment work.
As always, we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled and letting you know if we spot any developments!
As Gertie is something of an icon here in the park (she even had a cookie designed after her at Christmas!), we’re hopeful to see her back to her usual shining self very soon.
Next time you’re visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios, be sure to pay a visit to Gertie and wish her a speedy recovery!
