What Happens To Disney World’s Lost and Found Items When They Go Unclaimed?
Have you ever wondered what happens to the hundreds of items that arrive at Disney World’s lost and found?
I don’t know about you, but over the years, I have lost everything from hats to sunglasses to MagicBands at the parks, many of which I never saw again.
Well, as it turns out, Disney World keeps lost and found items for around three months before donating everything to local charities.
The Boys & Girls Club of Central Florida
One of the institutions that receives donations from Disney World’s lost and found is the Boys & Girls Club of Central Florida, which owns a thrift store where they sell the items.

In addition to items that have gone unclaimed, the stores also sell Disney merchandise for a fraction of the price.
The Boys & Girls Club of Central Florida Thrift Store in Winter Park gets a shipment containing lost and found items from Disney World every three months. In addition to the branded Disney items, the shipments also include items that parkgoers have lost on the property.

“A lot of items are brand new things people purchased in Disney parks, they leave them somewhere in a bag and they don’t claim them,” said Betsy Owens, Vice President of Marketing & Community Relations for Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida told Florida Today. “We’ve gotten brand new Oakley sunglasses with the tags on them.”
The Profits Support Local Children
Because most of the Disney-branded items sell out quickly, the store employees update a Facebook page when new shipments arrive or when certain items are on sale.

“Disney is a huge supporter of the Boys & Girls Club,” Owens said. “We are fortunate to be one of the local charities that they are extremely generous to. This is just a small fraction of their overall support.”
