Last “Black Widow” Poster Revealed in Series
Is Friday here yet? The anticipation is so real for the release this week of Marvel’s “Black Widow.” To hold us over, the last of a 4-part poster series debuted today.
“It’s her time,” Marvel wrote on Twitter today in celebration of the new image. Artist Attila Szarka (@SzarkaArt) created the striking poster for the new film release.
Szarka chose to prominently feature the Avenger’s batons. The electroshock batons give Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) much power. Constantly glowing, the weapons glow blue. The Tony Stark creations first appeared during 2012 “The Avengers” and later in 2015’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron.”
Designed to be an extension of the Black Widow’s arms, the batons pop up in images of otherr Black Widow trainees as well. Though Natasha Romanoff’s sticks might stand out, we know that Melina Vostokoff (Rachel Weisz) also weilds the tools.
The new poster utilizes varying shades of brushstrokes to create an intense and oddly bright-toned piece of art. The glowing blue charges from the batons seem to illuminate Black Widow’s face as she stares off into the sun.
The painting stands in stark contrast to most images of the film so far released. Dark hues dominate the majority of clips released in trailers and teasers so far.
“Black Widow” hits theatres on Friday after a huge hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Anxious fans continue to countdown to the release of the film. The narrative finally tells the backstory of one of the Avengers most powerful female characters, Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow.
After Black Widow sacrificed herself to essentially save humanity at the end of “Avengers: End Game,” many argued that the hero did not receive enough credit, especially compared to the fanfare after Tony Stark also perishes to defeat Thanos.
With the release of “Black Widow,” the Marvel Cinematic Universe closes out this chapter for Johannson in the MCU. The film premieres in theatres as well as on Disney+ with Premiere Access beginning Friday, July 9th.
