Veterans Honored at Walt Disney World
Honoring Veterans and active-duty personnel has been a tradition passed down over the years. It all started with both Walt and Roy Disney who even served our country during World War I. This tradition is still going strong today thanks many Cast Members who are also Veterans.
Back in March of 2012, Disney launched the Heroes Work Here initiative. The goal of Heroes Work Here has been to encourage thousands of active-duty military personnel and veterans to become Cast Members and on the Disney team.
Yesterday at Walt Disney World, on Veteran’s Day, select Veteran Cast Members were chosen to represent the countless heroes by serving as Veterans of the Day at the Magic Kingdom. Some of the Veteran Cast Members were honored as grand marshals ahead of the Festival of Fantasy parade and also participating in the sunset flag retreat ceremony. Veteran cast members Austin, Bryan and Marilyn gave a salute to remember as thousands of guests joined us in thanking them for their sacrifice and service.
Way to go, Walt Disney World for honoring our Veterans! MickeyBlog.com gives a huge THANK YOU to all those who have served or are currently serving our country and their families.
