Chef Martin Brings Authentic Asian Flavors to the Disney Adventure
Disney Cruise Line is bringing authentic Asian flavors aboard the Disney Adventure, and an inspiring chef is helping lead the way.
This talented cast member brings his experience to Disney Cruise Line and is motivating others through his culinary journey.
Meet Chef Martin

Meet Chef Martin! A native of Malaysia, Chef Martin began his career in Singapore and spent over three decades working in resort kitchens and Japanese restaurants.
Today, he serves as a Senior Executive Chef with Disney Cruise Line shoreside, overseeing menus across the Disney Adventure.

“This ship is unique because it is Disney’s first ship designed specifically for Southeast Asian cuisine,” Chef Martin explained.
“We combine many Asian dishes from different regions and cultures and have implemented Asian cuisine throughout the ship.”
Creating Mike & Sulley’s Flavors of Asia

Chef Martin played a major role in developing Mike & Sulley’s Flavors of Asia, a family-friendly premium restaurant inspired by Harryhausen’s work and Disney and Pixar’s Monsters, Inc.
The restaurant brings four distinct Japanese dining experiences together in one location, including sushi and teppanyaki.

Chef Martin helped develop the menus, recipes, and presentations, and selected ingredients, sourced products, and trained onboard culinary teams.
His goal was to create traditional cuisine with a modern approach while maintaining authentic flavors.
A Favorite Dish and Focus on Teamwork

One of Chef Martin’s favorite creations is the Wagyu Donabe Rice. The classic clay pot rice dish gets a Japanese-inspired update using Japanese ingredients while retaining its traditional presentation.
In addition to great food, creating a memorable Disney Cruise Line dining experience also depends on teamwork and consistency. “On Disney Cruise Line, it’s more than just food. Every detail matters–from the menu and presentation to the service. We’re telling a story.”

That attention to detail helps bring another layer of Disney storytelling to the dining experiences aboard the Disney Adventure. Visit the Life at Disney page for more info on Chef Martin and Disney Cruise Line careers!
