Disney Makes Another Push to Have Employees Return to the Office
Josh D’Amaro is putting his stamp on The Walt Disney Company and scaling back remote work.
Like much of the country, Disney leaned heavily on remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic to keep employees safe.

In March 2023, however, former Disney CEO Bob Iger implemented a policy that required employees to return to the office four days a week.
“In a creative business like ours, nothing can replace the ability to connect, observe, and create with peers that comes from being physically together, nor the opportunity to grow professionally by learning from leaders and mentors,” he said.
Numerous Employees Were Exempt
While Iger’s directive was a clear policy change, it also included numerous exceptions, particularly in the Disney Consumer Products and tech units.

Now Josh D’Amaro is closing those loopholes.
The New Policy
According to a report from The Street, Disney has informed some remote employees that they must report on-site four days a week.

The new memo warns that employees who fail to comply with the updated rules may face termination.
Under Bob Iger, remote work rules were largely handled on a case-by-case basis, with some managers enforcing the guidelines more strictly than others.

Now Disney is putting its foot down.
A Larger Trend
It should be noted that Disney’s latest effort to get staff back on campus is part of a larger trend.
As we continue to move further away from the COVID pandemic, more companies are calling workers in.

What ramifications, if any, come from Disney’s decision, however, remains to be seen.
