Our Tips for The Magic of Disney Animation at Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
The Magic of Disney Animation is finally open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

The building — located in the center of the newly reimagined Walt Disney Studios Lot courtyard — is filled with all kinds of offerings and experiences immersing guests in the magic of Disney animation!
From “Olaf Draws!” to “Drawn to Wonderland,” there’s truly something for everyone. (Check out our full review of The Magic of Disney Animation here.)

Now that everyone can visit The Magic of Disney Animation, we want to help you make the most of your trip by sharing our top tips!
Let’s jump in!
Our Tips – The Magic of Disney Animation
Prepare for Crowds
As with every other attraction in the parks — the earlier you get there, the better! (There’s a reason rope-dropping is so popular.)
The building will surely fill up more as the day goes on, so we highly recommend visiting as early as possible!

Even if you get there early, still prepare for crowds! New offerings always attract a lot of attention.

And to be totally honest, with how much this building offers guests, it may attract crowds for a long time.
Get Familiar With the Virtual Queue
“Olaf Draws!” is already an extremely popular offering inside the building, inviting guests to learn how to draw beloved characters from real Disney animators! As the name suggests, Olaf also attends these drawing classes and comes to life via audio-animatronics.

With the offering already drawing so much attention (see what we did there?), Disney has decided to implement a Virtual Queue as needed. The Virtual Queue will help prevent crowding in the area and allow guests to enjoy other attractions and experiences while virtually waiting for their class.

If you aren’t familiar with the Virtual Queue process, we recommend opening the My Disney Experience app and walking through the steps before your visit!

Take Advantage of the Roaming Characters
We’ll start by saying this may be hard to plan for, as the roaming character opportunities aren’t listed in the My Disney Experience app. However, if you spend enough time in the courtyard of the Walt Disney Studios Lot, you’ll likely run into a character or two!

Since the location has soft-opened, we’ve spotted characters like Moana, Jasmine, Pinocchio, Geppetto, Pocahontas, Rafiki, Grumpy, Dopey, Alice, Pluto, White Rabbit, Jiminy Cricket, Perla, and Suzy.
Based on how it’s been going, we think these characters will vary day to day, meaning you can experience different interactions each time you visit!

Don’t forget — Alice is also wandering around her themed playground, “Drawn to Wonderland,” located inside The Magic of Disney Animation!

If you’re looking for scheduled character interactions in the lot, the My Disney Experience app currently has the appearance times listed for Pluto at Pluto’s Corner…
