Labor Day Travel Brings Crowds to Orlando and Walt Disney World
Orlando is once again among the country’s most popular Labor Day destinations, and it is easy to see why. Access to amazing beaches, world-class theme parks, and more makes this a major vacation destination.
However, travelers should prepare for a busy holiday weekend at the airport and on Central Florida roads.

Orlando International Airport expects 841,577 arriving and departing passengers during its six-day Labor Day travel period.
The travel period officially runs from Thursday, September 3, through Tuesday, September 8.
The busiest day is projected to be Monday, September 7, when approximately 155,776 travelers will pass through MCO.
Passenger Numbers Dip From Last Year

Orlando International Airport
Despite the large crowds, airport traffic is expected to be lower than it was during the 2025 holiday period. MCO recorded 450,060 departing passengers last year. This year, the airport anticipates 420,493 departures.
Seattle, Boston, Denver, and New York City are also expected to rank among the most popular destinations for air travelers over the holiday weekend.
Drivers Should Plan Around Peak Traffic

Florida
Are you planning to travel by car this weekend?
The roads will also be crowded as visitors arrive in Central Florida. AAA expects Friday to bring the heaviest traffic, since holiday travelers will share the roads with regular commuters.

Be prepared and plan ahead. The most congested driving periods are expected from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday.
Guests heading toward Walt Disney World should leave extra time for delays along Interstate 4 and other major routes near the resort throughout the entire weekend.
A Busy Weekend at Walt Disney World
The holiday weekend gives Disney fans plenty of reasons to visit. The EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival is underway, while Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party brings seasonal entertainment to Magic Kingdom on select evenings.

Travelers flying home Monday will see the airport’s largest crowds. Arriving at least 2-3 hours early and checking airline updates on the official MCO app can make traveling easier.
