PHOTOS: Scaffolding Removed From The Glob Theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Ever since the final curtain fell on Muppet*Vision 3D last year, Disney has been busy transforming the attraction’s theater into The Glob.

Part of the broader plans for Monstropolis, The Glob will host a 3D show that further immerses fans in the story of Monsters, Inc.

“After years spent scaring us, monsters are finally welcoming humans into Monstropolis with an all new themed land inspired by the beloved Monsters, Inc. film franchise. Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the land will feature shopping, dining, and the first-ever suspended coaster in a Disney park,” Disney explains at Walt Disney Presents.

‘Welcome to Monstropolis!’

As announced at last month’s D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, The Glob will host Welcome to Monstropolis! With Sulley & Mike.

The new show will have the residents of Monstropolis introduce themselves to guests, highlighting how similar monsters and humans really are.

While Sulley has been working on a quaint, homespun show, Mike wants to deliver a showstopping performance.

Scaffolding Has Been Removed

When visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios this afternoon, we were thrilled to see that the scaffolding has come down from around The Glob.

As you can see, all of the Muppet adornments have been removed from the building.

The only remnant is the large clock that looms overhead.

Here is a closer look at the front entrance.

Plenty of Work Ahead

While the scaffolding has come down from around the theater, no Monsters, Inc. signage is in place.

So, while the theater’s construction has clearly reached a new stage, there is still a long way to go.

It should also be noted that the rest of Monstropolis is still covered in scaffolding.

From the parking lot we were able to get another view of the construction.

As you can see, the Door Coaster is continuing to take shape.

Large cranes and plenty of equipment are on hand.

Here is one last look.

It will be fascinating to watch Disney bring the land to life.
