To kick off D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, taking place August 14th through August 16th, Disneyland Resort is bringing guests one day of themed experiences and fan-centered fun! From exciting giveaways to special entertainment and offerings, we’re here to experience it all.

D23 Day – Disneyland Resort
(We’re currently at the resort experiencing all the D23 Day offerings. We’ll update this post as the day continues, so keep checking back!)
Complimentary Items
When entering Disney California Adventure this morning, we received a complimentary D23 Day Ear Hat!
The themed Mickey ear hat features the D23 Day logo and has blue ears and trim.
The back of the hat is solid black.
They’ll be available while supplies last and are being given to everyone!
(There’s also plenty in Disneyland Park!)
With our hat, we also got a commemorative guide that doubles as a keepsake!
The front page features the date, a Sleeping Beauty Castle design, and advertises “23 Things to Do” for D23 Day.
The “things to do” are listed inside the guide, with offerings like the Disney Legends Cavalcade and special character encounters.
Of course, it also features a map of Disneyland Park…
…and Disney California Adventure.
In honor of the Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey Balloon that will debut at this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, we also received a complimentary Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey Balloon Patch!
Disney Legends Cavalcade
At 1:30PM, the Disney Legends Cavalcade at Disneyland Park floated down Main Street, U.S.A.
The cavalcade is exclusive to D23 Day, and featured 23 characters, including Mickey and Minnie…
…Miguel…
…Hook…
…Merida…
…Merlin (a rare character sighting for the day)…
…and more!
The Disneyland Band also played in the cavalcade.
Oh–and of course there were Disney Legends!
Each car was packed with Disney Legends, with banners featuring each legend’s name, area of impact, and induction year.
It was so cool to see Legends from the past few decades joining together to celebrate the new induction class!
Special Entertainment
Tomorrowland Terrace will transform from “Stitch’s Interplanetary Beach Party Bash” to “Disney+ Hulu Throwbacks Dance Party” at 7:30PM and will run until 11:30PM.
(We’ll check this one out later tonight!)

…and the Blue Fairy from Pinocchio!

You can also snap pictures with the D23 Day Photo-Op Frame near Star Wars Trading Post in Downtown Disney!
The frame portion is covered in a pattern inspired by “it’s a small world,” while the front display sign features the event logo and icons of Pixar Pal-A-Round, Grizzly River Run, Sleeping Beauty Castle, and “it’s a small world.
You can pose with the large D23 Day display, too! It’s located in the front hub of Disneyland Park’s Main Street, U.S.A.
This features similar designs, with the addition of Carthay Circle…
…Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Matterhorn, and the Mark Twain Riverboat.
Merchandise Releases
A bunch of collections and limited-time items debuted today in honor of D23 Day!
Fans are really excited about these drops, with huge lines forming for the merchandise releases in both Disneyland Park…
…and Disney California Adventure.
That includes the D23 Day Logo Collection (of course)…
…the Disneylandia Collection…
…The Hunchback of Notre Dame 30th Anniversary Collection…
…and the Alice in Wonderland 75th Anniversary Collection.

There’s an “it’s a small world” 60th-anniversary design, a Disneyland Resort design, a DCA 25th-anniversary design, and a Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar 15th-anniversary design. The opposite side of each coin features a D23 Day design.
It’s available as a complete four-medallion set for $35.
The Haunted Mansion Hatbox Ghost Popcorn Bucket, which we’ve also seen at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, debuted today at the following locations:
- Disneyland Park: Harbour Galley, Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree, Popcorn at Frontierland, and Popcorn at New Orleans
- DCA: Popcorn at Grizzly Peak Airfield and Popcorn Near Carthay Circle Restaurant
