Disney Draws Inspiration From the Piedmont Region For Asteria’s Main Entranceway
A brand-new Disney story is being written in the heart of North Carolina, where work is underway on Asteria, the newest Storyliving by Disney community.
Inspired by the spirit of discovery, the master-planned development will offer residents access to big-city amenities alongside the charm of small-town living.

The last time we brought you an update on Asteria, we took a closer look at the Second Star Club.

Now, we are back with another update.
Asteria’s Entryway
When designing Asteria, Imagineers drew much of their inspiration from North Carolina’s Piedmont region.

In fact, Disney sourced much of the stone directly from the site, including metavolcanic rock, quartz, and rhyolite, all of which will be incorporated into the community’s entryway.
The entrance was built using the regional tradition of dry stacking, helping connect the design to the landscape that inspired it.
The entryway’s signature feature will be a moon gate, an arched gateway that beautifully frames the surrounding scenery.
As residents pass through the moon gate, they will make their official entrance into the community.

The thoughtful attention to detail found in Asteria’s entryway is just the beginning of what Disney has planned for Storyliving by Disney’s newest community.
