ESPN Cuts Ties With Longtime NFL Analyst Ryan Clark
ESPN has cut ties with longtime NFL analyst Ryan Clark, who had been a central figure in the Worldwide Leader’s football coverage for almost a decade.
According to a report from The Athletic, Clark was informed of the decision while appearing on Monday’s episode of NFL Live.

A Tumultuous Ten Years
While Clark had been with ESPN for over 10 years, his tenure was not without controversy.

Three times last fall, Clark was forced to issue a public apology for comments he made on air.
The first incident came after he suggested that Robert Griffin III’s opinions on the WNBA weren’t valid because the former quarterback is married to a white woman.

Then, he got into an argument with Peter Schrager on the network’s flagship show, Get Up!, insinuating that the longtime NFL pundit and reporter’s opinion was not valid because he didn’t play football.
Finally, Clark also apologized after falsely stating that Louisiana police had manufactured evidence against LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy.

The claim proved false, and Clark apologized once again.
More Layoffs Are Coming
While Clark’s numerous controversies and reported $2 million salary reportedly played a role in his exit from ESPN, there is more to the story.

ESPN and NFL Network, which Disney acquired from the NFL earlier this year, will reportedly announce another round of layoffs tomorrow.
The decisions Disney makes around its NFL talent will be particularly interesting, as ESPN and ABC will broadcast next year’s Super Bowl.
