United Airlines Introduces New Economy Plus Seating With More Personal Space
Could you be enjoying a more spacious flying experience soon? You will be if you’re flying United Airlines.
United Airlines has unveiled a new seating concept coming to its Airbus A321XLR fleet! Travelers will have more room to stretch out and more personal space without having to move to a premium cabin.
New Economy Plus
United Airlines has announced a new Economy Plus seating option that will debut on its upcoming Airbus A321XLR aircraft.
The unique configuration replaces the traditional middle seat with a permanently open space between a window and an aisle seat. Now travelers have additional elbow room and a more spacious feel during their flight.
The open area will feature a large fixed table for dining, working, or keeping personal items within easy reach.
Passengers seated in these rows will also enjoy the extra three inches of legroom already included with Economy Plus seating.
Arriving Later This Year
United plans to install the new seating arrangement on all 50 Airbus A321XLR aircraft. The airline is also evaluating whether the concept could be expanded to other aircraft across its fleet.
According to United, the Airbus A321XLR will serve as the carrier’s flagship narrow-body aircraft for many international short- and medium-haul routes. Ticket sales for the new seating option are expected to begin later this year. More pricing details TBD.

The announcement follows other comfort-focused offerings from the airline, including the “Relax Row” concept.
This allows select economy seats on Boeing 787 and 777 aircraft to transform into a couch-style seating area (beginning in 2027).
United says its goal is to offer travelers more choices and added value across every cabin experience.
