Fathom Taps Former Disney Executive Jason Brenek as Next CEO
Fathom Entertainment, which has become beloved for re-releasing classic movies in theaters, has appointed former Disney executive Jason Brenek as its chief executive officer.
Brenek will replace Ray Nutt, who is retiring after leading Fathom for nine years.

For Disney fans, Brenek should be a familiar name, as he spent 15 years with the company.
Brenek’s Disney Career
Initially joining Buena Vista Home Entertainment in 1996, Brenek cut his teeth during an era when DVD sales were beginning to explode.

After briefly leaving Disney for Fox, he returned in 2003 as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Digital Cinema & Cinema Programming.
In this capacity, he led Disney’s transition from 35mm film prints to digital projection and helped launch the company’s 3D initiative.
He also oversaw the release of theatrical concert films and special event programming.

In 2011, Brenek was named Senior Vice President of International In-Home and continued to serve in that role until he left the company in 2015.
After leaving Disney, IMAX appointed Brenek president of IMAX Home.

Now, he will work to build on Fathom’s recent successes.
Plans For Fathom
In an interview with Bloomberg, Brenek previewed his plans to release more faith-based content through Fathom.

The new CEO also plans to produce content that may be a little too niche for major studios.
“I think there’s a huge opportunity for bringing films that have been made by traditional filmmakers that want to see their product on the big screen, but for some reason, in the marketplace that we’re operating in, are not actually making it through the major studios,” Brenek said.
