BREAKING: Former Disneyland President Ken Potrock Is Retiring After 32 Years With Disney
After an illustrious three-decade career with The Walt Disney Company, former Disneyland President Ken Potrock has announced his upcoming retirement.
Potrock initially joined Disney in 1995, serving as Vice President of Marketing for Disney Cruise Line.

In that position, he helped get the cruise line off the ground, laying the groundwork for the debut of the Disney Magic in 1998.
“My time at Disney started in 1995 with what felt like a crazy idea: help Disney launch a cruise line, in an industry it had never been in. A lot of people thought we were nuts. We figured it out anyway,” he recalled.

Before the Disney Magic set sail, Potrock moved over to the Disney Parks, serving as Vice President of Alliance Marketing and later Senior Vice President of Global Alliance Marketing.
Vice President of Disney Sports Entertainment
In 2008, he was named Senior Vice President of Disney Sports Enterprises and was tasked with overseeing Disney’s Wide World of Sports.
Under his leadership, the venue was transformed into the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

During this period, Potrock was also part of the team that began planning the transformation of Downtown Disney into Disney Springs.
Disney Vacation Club and Adventures by Disney
In 2013, Potrock was named Senior Vice President and General Manager of Disney Vacation Club and Adventures by Disney, eventually overseeing major expansion across both organizations.

Additionally, Potrock was instrumental in the creation of Golden Oak at Walt Disney World.
President of Disneyland
After a brief stint as President of Disney Consumer Products Commercialization, Potrock was named president of Disneyland in May 2020.

During his tenure, Disneyland underwent its unprecedented closure during the COVID-19 pandemic, saw the opening of Avengers Campus and San Fransokyo Square at Disney California Adventure, and debuted a reimagined Mickey’s Toontown.

Finally, Potrock laid the groundwork for the DisneyForward expansion, helping secure approval for the project from the Anaheim City Council.
President of Major Events Integration and Super Bowl LXI
Since 2025, Potrock has served as President of Major Events Integration.

In this role, he led the Disney Celebrates America campaign, helped develop the upcoming Mickey Mouse 100 festivities, and is currently leading Disney’s promotion of Super Bowl LXI.
As news of his retirement began to spread on social media, Potrock announced his plans on LinkedIn.
While he will indeed be leaving Disney, he will remain with the company through next year’s Super Bowl.
“Every chapter along this journey was built by people who cared more than they had to. That’s what I’ll carry with me most,” he wrote.

The Next Chapter
While it remains to be seen exactly what the future holds for Potrock, he is already thinking about his next chapter.

“After next February, Susanne and I have serious travel to catch up on, two amazing sons to watch continue crushing it, and I just might be heading to the Culinary Institute of America in Napa Valley. My first job selling Gallo wine was trying to tell me something all along,” he wrote.
“The next chapter is going to be a really good one.”
