Disneyland Resort Has a Hard Deadline to Debut the New Electric-Powered Autopia Cars
All the way back in August 2024, Disneyland announced it would replace the gas-powered cars on Autopia with new electric vehicles.
At the time, the resort estimated that the transition would take roughly two and a half years and set a Fall 2026 target completion date.

Since then, we have received numerous updates on the new Autopia vehicles, including news earlier this year that Disneyland and the California Air Resources Board had agreed that the attraction’s gas engines would officially be retired by 2027.
Additionally, Disney agreed to pay a $56,000 fine after it was determined that the gas-powered Honda engines installed in September 2024 violated California regulations for lacking certified emissions controls.
Now, we have another update to share.
Disneyland’s Deadline
A new report from Climate Controlled Goggles has revealed that Disneyland must replace the gas-powered engines on Autopia by February 1, 2027, or close the attraction.
The new information came to light after the outlet filed a California Public Records Act request with the California Air Resources Board to review Disney’s settlement compliance plan.

The last time Disney shared an update on the Autopia project, the company revealed that it was designing, engineering, and testing a fully electric prototype for the attraction.

Based on the February deadline, we should learn significantly more about Disneyland’s plans for the attraction in the near future.
The installation of electric-powered Autopia vehicles would mark another major step toward Disney’s goal of reaching net-zero emissions by 2030 through the increased use of renewable energy.
