‘Rivals’ Has Already Been Renewed For Season 3
In a move that should come as no surprise to anyone paying attention, Disney+ has renewed Rivals for a third season.
For those who may not know, Rivals is a 1980s-set period drama about the world of television.

Based on the novel by Jilly Cooper, the series stars David Tennant, Aidan Turner, and Danny Dyer.
“In the cutthroat world of 1980s television, the scandalous battle for the franchise reaches fever pitch as media mogul Tony Baddingham seeks to destroy Rupert Campbell-Black,” the show’s synopsis teases.

A Bona-Fide Streaming HIt
While Rivals has found success in the United States on Hulu, the series has become something of a phenomenon in Europe, easily becoming the biggest Disney+ original series on the continent.

It should come as no surprise, then, that Disney has quickly renewed the series for a third season.
“The phenomenal response to Rivals is a credit to the bold, irreverent and endlessly entertaining world created by Dame Jilly Cooper, our cast, creative team and production partners at Happy Prince. We’re delighted to be bringing audiences a third season on Disney+/Hulu,” said Lee Mason, VP of Scripted at Disney+ EMEA.

What We Know About Season 3
While Disney has yet to announce when Season 3 of Rivals will debut, the company is clearly fast-tracking more episodes.

In fact, Rivals’ renewal came before the second half of Season 2 aired.
“As the dust settles following the scandalous revelations in Season 2, the stakes grow higher and alliances become more fragile, with nothing staying buried for long,” Disney teases.
