Disney+ Agrees to New Partnership With France’s La Chaîne L’Équipe
While Disney has firmly established itself as a major player in the global streaming market, the company has made a noticeable change in strategy over the past couple of years.
When Disney+ first launched in 2019, it was advertised as the exclusive home of content that fans could not get anywhere else, such as The Mandalorian, Loki, and Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

Over the past two years, however, Disney has increasingly partnered with global studios to add more local content to its streaming service.
To that end, Disney+ launched 100 series across more than 20 territories last year and signed deals with ITV in the United Kingdom, Atresmedia in Spain, ZDF Studios in Germany, and Nordisk in the Nordics to expand its local content catalog.

Now, the streamer has announced a major deal in France.
Disney’s New Deal With La Chaîne L’Équipe
Earlier this week, Disney+ and La Chaîne L’Équipe revealed a new agreement that will bring live sporting events such as the World Cup, the Diamond League, and the European Table Tennis Union circuit to the streaming platform.

Previously, those events were only broadcast on the free-to-air sports channel.
“This collaboration with Disney+ marks a new milestone for La Chaîne L’Équipe. It enables us to expand our reach while remaining true to our mission: sharing a passion for sport with the widest possible audience, delivering expertise recognized by all, and offering Disney+ customers must-see sporting events,” said Vincent Broussard, CEO of the TV division of Groupe L’Équipe.
