Disney Reveals How Scooter Became the Most Advanced Muppet Audio-Animatronic Ever
Walt Disney Imagineering has released a new behind-the-scenes episode showcasing the technology and creativity behind the new Scooter Audio-Animatronic.
The new technology is being developed for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The episode is part of the “Great Moments in Imagineering & Disney Live Entertainment” series and gives fans a closer look at how Imagineers created what they describe as the most realistic Muppet Audio-Animatronic figure ever built.
Motion Capture Meets Muppet Magic
For the first time ever, Walt Disney Imagineering used motion capture technology on a Muppet character.
To accurately recreate Scooter’s movements, a custom motion capture suit was designed specifically for the character.
Imagineers worked with Muppet performer David Rudman to capture his performance. Then they translated those movements into the Audio-Animatronic figure.
The process allowed the team to closely match Scooter’s signature gestures, expressions, and personality in new ways.
