In the former Muppets Courtyard area of Hollywood Studios, Disney is currently constructing Monstropolis, the setting of Disney and Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. This new land will feature a roller coaster, dining, shopping, and more, and now Disney has revealed just how Monstropolis will fit into the park!
“H.U.M.A.N Day is a Go”
If you remember from Monsters, Inc., James P. Sullivan and Mike Wazowski discover that human laughter is ten times more powerful than their screams, which formerly powered the city of Monstropolis. They also learn that humans are, in fact, NOT toxic to monsters!
But how do they change how humans and monsters see each other? Enter H.U.M.A.N. Day!

The Monstropolis Horn announces the historic approval of H.U.M.A.N. Day, which stands for “Humans Understand Monsters Are Nice.”
The goal of this day is to introduce humans to the city of Monstropolis!
(Also, if you look at the image below, “Page 8, Col. 15” is mentioned twice. The 2026 D23 Ultimate Fan Event will be held from August 14 to August 16, 2026, which means we can likely expect an announcement at that time!)

The newly instituted Department of Human Relations has been working to help monsters fear humans less, and H.U.M.A.N. Day will invite humans to Monstropolis for a celebratory cultural opportunity to show monsters that humans are NOT scary after all! (And vice versa.)
The Department of Human Resources wants “to show how much we care for humans … despite their lack of scales.”

Monstropolis will be filled with restaurants like the iconic Harryhausen’s and the Glob Theater, as well as the new Door Coaster, inspired by the scene of rotating doors from Monsters, Inc.
We’ve been keeping you updated on all the construction progress, and we’ll continue to keep our eyes peeled for any big Monstropolis news and updates!
