Disney’s Live-Action ‘Moana’ Is Longer Than the Original Animated Film
Disney’s live-action Moana is set to sail into theaters this July, nearly 10 years after the original animated film captivated audiences around the world.
This time around, the titular wayfinder will be played by newcomer Catherine Laga’aia, while Dwayne Johnson will reprise his iconic role as Maui.

Joining them will be John Tui as Moana’s father, Chief Tui; Frankie Adams as Moana’s mother, Sina; and Rena Owen as Moana’s Gramma Tala.

“In Disney’s live-action reimagining of the beloved Oscar®-nominated animated adventure, Moana (Catherine Lagaʻaia) answers the Ocean’s call and, for the first time, voyages beyond the reef of her island of Motunui with the infamous demigod Maui (Dwayne Johnson) on an unforgettable journey to restore prosperity to her people,” the film’s synopsis reads.

The Live-Action Film Is Longer Than the Original
According to the AMC Theatres website, Disney’s live-action Moana has a runtime of 120 minutes.

That makes the film 13 minutes longer than the original animated movie.

The film will finally hit theaters on July 10, 2026.
