“A Whole New World” and “Beauty and the Beast” Singer Peabo Bryson Has Passed Away at 75
Legendary R&B singer Peabo Bryson has passed away at the age of 75, just three days after suffering a stroke.
The news was shared by a representative for the family.
“We are tremendously moved by the outpouring of love, prayers and support from fans, friends, and colleagues around the world,” Bryson’s family said in a statement.

“While our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing how deeply Peabo was loved and how many lives were touched by his voice and his generous spirit. His legacy and music will live on for generations to come.”
Early Career and Musical Success
Robert Peapo Bryson was born on April 13, 1951, in Greenville, South Carolina.

After high school, Bryson began a career in professional music, touring with Moses Dillard in the late 1960s.
In 1976, he released his debut album, Peabo. One year later, he signed with Capitol Records.
Over his illustrious career, Bryson recorded 20 albums and found success with hits including “If Ever You’re in My Arms Again,” “Can You Stop the Rain,” “Feel the Fire,” and “Tonight, I Celebrate My Love.”

Both Reaching for the Sky and Crosswinds were certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.

Disney fans will undoubtedly remember Bryson for his duet of “A Whole New World” with Regina Belle and “Beauty and the Beast” with Celine Dion.
Additionally, he sang “As Long as There’s Christmas” with Roberta Flack during the end credits of Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas and appeared in numerous Disney World specials, including A Musical Christmas at Walt Disney World, Pocahontas: The Musical Tradition Continues, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame: Festival of Fun Musical Spectacular.
Bryson earned Grammy Awards for both “A Whole New World” and “Beauty and the Beast.”
Bryson is survived by his wife, Tanya Boniface Bryson; his children, Robert and Linda; and three grandchildren.
