Disney Apologizes to Law Enforcement Conference Attendees After Turning Them Away From Disney Springs
Police officers attending the IPTM Symposium on Traffic Safety were reportedly turned away from Disney Springs on Wednesday night for wearing clothing adorned with law enforcement logos.
Multiple officers told News 7 that security stopped them from entering the premises, despite the fact that the conference was being held at the nearby Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista.

“We were not allowed to enter wearing law enforcement-related clothing,” one officer said. “They said we could turn it inside out.”

Subsequently, conference attendees were sent a message warning them to wear plain clothes if they wanted to enter Disney Springs.
“We’re here for a conference,” another officer explained. “We want to go enjoy the time that we have to meet new law enforcement officers from around the country.”

A Misunderstanding
Following the incident at Disney Springs, Disney told News 6 that security was too conservative in determining that the police officers’ clothing could confuse guests.

They later apologized for the inconvenience and assured conference attendees that the situation had been resolved.
On Thursday, conference organizers messaged attendees to alert them that the issue had been resolved.

“They will be able to wear a polo shirt appropriately when they walk in,” Collins told News 6. “They won’t be rolled back.”
