What Will Disney Be Like in September 2026?
Everyone has a favorite time of year to visit Walt Disney World.
I can tell you from the data that you’re missing the best one, though.

Disney’s Orlando park doesn’t have a true offseason, per se. However, one month is unquestionably slower than the rest.
So, what will Disney be like in September 2026? Let’s discuss why you should go.
About Disney World in September

Since Disney switched to tiered ticket pricing, we all know the deal.
The company has clearly spelled out when its busiest times of the year are.

You’ll pay the most for those tickets, and the reverse is true as well.
Tickets are cheapest when Disney is trying to persuade tourists to visit.

You can glance at the ticket prices for September to see what I mean.

Even better, more than half of the 20 most popular birthdays occur this month.
So, you can put on a shiny Celebration button and strut around the parks.

Cast Members and even some strangers will wish you a Happy Birthday.
It’s a silly way to make your Disney vacation even more magical.

I’m speaking from experience here, as my birthday is in September, too.
Of course, there’s plenty of reasons for non-Virgos to visit as well.

The EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival will just be getting started.
In fact, it’ll only be a few days old when September arrives.

You’ll be among the first to sample this year’s delicious treats and exclusive merch.
Remarkably, that’s just a small part of what’s happening this fall.

Before we get to that, we should talk about the weather, though.
Let’s Talk about the Weather

Have you soured on summer vacations to warmer locations? You’re not alone. In fact, Disney prices parts of the summer as the offseason.
The company also added Cool Kids’ Summer as a way to persuade more tourists to visit. Speaking of which, Cool Kids’ Summer lasts through September 8th, 2026.

So, this is another fun activity your family can do during an early September visit.
We’re supposed to be talking about the weather, though.

On that front, I have excellent news, as Central Florida cools some in September.
The average high temperature is 86 degrees, quite a bit lower than in August.

According to WeatherSpark, the average high ranges from 81 to 93 degrees.
My rule of thumb about Orlando is that anything over 95 degrees is a bit tough.

Of course, Walt Disney World offers tons of indoor experiences.
Thus, you’ll never have a problem beating the heat here anyway.

Still, if the high temperature is just 81 degrees, you will LOVE being in Florida.
As for average low temperatures, Orlando typically ranges from 68 to 78 degrees.

The overall average low is 72 degrees, giving you a nice 14-degree daily range.
You won’t be scalding hot, but you also won’t need a sweater in September.

Then, we have the topic of clouds and rain, which will impact your packing.
Well, the reality is that it’s a coin flip each day, albeit with changing odds.

Clouds during Spring Break
Earlier in the month, the chance of cloudy days or rain is about 60 percent.
By the end of the month, the numbers will have dropped to about 40 percent.

Stormy Day in Magic Kingdom
Overall, it’s 50/50 whether you’ll face rain or thick clouds on a given day.
However, those numbers fluctuate depending on the time of month you’re visiting.
What Can You Do at Disney World in September?

I’ve already mentioned two things, yet I’ve barely scratched the surface.
Don’t get me wrong, though. The EPCOT Food & Wine Festival is reason enough to visit.

Since its inception, this festival has been the signature event on EPCOT’s annual calendar.
If anything, 2026 will be better than ever, and a few of the days will double the fun.

During the first eight days of September, you can do the Cool Kids’ Summer stuff, too.
Then, we have all the new additions happening at the parks this summer.

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad have finally returned.
Disney has also added a new version of a popular ride at EPCOT.

Soarin’ Across America celebrates the country’s 250th anniversary in style.
At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run has a new mission.

This one stars The Mandalorian and his adorable Baby Yoda friend.
Remarkably, that’s not the only updated ride at this park.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will delight fans of Dr. Mayhem and the Electric Teeth.
Hollywood Studios has also rebuilt The Walt Disney Studios on the fly.

This new themed land offers exponentially more character greetings than Animation Courtyard had.
Are you getting the point that there’s a ton of new stuff at Disney World this year?

Even better, when you visit in September, the lines will be shorter since it’s the slow season!

September in the south means only one thing: the start of football season.
Well, college football technically begins in August these days, but most early games are weak.

In September, conference play begins, and that’s great news for Big 12 fans.
The University of Central Florida will host home games this month.

Also, thanks to the Brightline high-speed railway, you can catch some pro games.
Miami, Jacksonville, and Tampa Bay will all have NFL home games in September.

On the baseball front, September means the home stretch of the season.
So, you can watch the playoff chase at Miami or Tampa Bay, too.

If you’re traveling later in the month and love Broadway, I have amazing news.
The touring company version of Hamilton will arrive on September 29th.

Honestly, this news is better for guests visiting in October, but it’s still amazing.

This play provides a rare reason to leave the Disney Bubble and explore the area.
Speaking of which, Universal Epic Universe is still barely a year old.
