Walt Disney World President Jeff Vahle Is Retiring After 36 Years
by Justin Hermes · May 11, 2026
Initially joining Disney as a senior engineer at Magic Kingdom, Vahle steadily worked his way up the corporate hierarchy. By the late 1990s, he was serving as vice president of global maintenance before eventually becoming executive vice president of facilities.

In that role, he helped bring numerous projects to life, including Disney California Adventure and Hong Kong Disneyland.
In 2018, Vahle was named president of Disney Signature Experiences, overseeing Disney Cruise Line, Disney Vacation Club, Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, Golden Oak, and Adventures by Disney.

When Josh D’Amaro was named chairman of Disney Experiences in 2020, Vahle succeeded him as president of Walt Disney World.

Vahle’s tenure at The Most Magical Place on Earth saw the transformation of EPCOT, the creation of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, the opening of TRON Lightcycle / Run, and the renovation of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
Additionally, Vahle greenlit the plans for Monstropolis, Tropical Americas, Piston Peak, Disney Villains Land, and The Walt Disney Studios Lot that are currently in development.
When Josh D’Amaro was later named CEO of The Walt Disney Company, many observers wondered whether Vahle would succeed him as president of Disney Experiences.

Ultimately, the role went to Thomas Mazloum.
While Vahle publicly praised Mazloum’s appointment, it is difficult not to notice that his retirement announcement comes just months after he was seemingly passed over for the position.
Vahle Shared the News Himself
Vahle himself announced his retirement today in a LinkedIn post.

While Vahle’s Disney career is coming to an end, he will remain with the company through July.
“I’ll be here through late July, so I’ll save the reminiscing for later. In the meantime, there’s a lot ahead, from launching Cool Kids’ Summer to opening Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets and an updated Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
