El Niño patterns often change the weather across the United States, especially in Florida. For Central Florida residents, the biggest impact may arrive during the winter months.
Forecasters say the winter of 2026 and 2027 could turn much wetter than normal across Orlando and surrounding areas.

Florida’s dry season usually begins in late fall. However, El Niño often shifts storm tracks farther south, bringing more rain and stronger storm systems into the state.
What does that mean for Orlando? That means Central Florida may see more rainy days, increased storm activity, and a lower chance of drought conditions this winter.
