How Disney Brought Arendelle to Life Behind the Scenes
Bringing a brand-new land to life takes more than construction- it takes a village!
At World of Frozen inside Disneyland Paris, the magic started long before opening day. It started with the people.
And just three weeks after opening, Arendelle already feels like a cozy and whimsical land.
Where the Magic Begins

Disney
Opening day felt smooth for a reason. Disney planned every detail so guests would step into an immersive world from the beginning.
That preparation began on Day One. Cast members were not trained to just do a job. They were trained to live inside the story.
Building the Village

Disney needed the right people to create Arendelle. The process started about 15 months before opening.
- Over 1,200 cast members were hired for the project
- 350 were selected as official “villagers” of Arendelle
- Recruitment included internal moves and a Europe-wide casting tour
The ultimate goal was to find people who could bring its warmth, personality, and story to life.
More Than a Job Offer

Disney
One month before opening, selected cast members received a special invitation.
This “letter from the village” welcomed them as residents of Arendelle, not employees. Each person received a themed name badge and a formal welcome message from the kingdom.
This created an emotional connection that was essential to the experience.
Disney Traditions

Disney
Before learning anything about Frozen, every cast member completed Disney Traditions.
This training sets the standard across Disney parks and focuses on:
- The Five Keys: Safety, Courtesy, Show, Efficiency, Inclusion
- Storytelling and guest experience
- A shared purpose across all roles
This step ensures consistency and the ultimate experience for guests.
Training Without the Land

The biggest challenge? Cast members had to learn a world that was still under construction.
Disney solved this with immersive training. Teams learned their roles through storytelling, simulations, and over 14 custom training programs.
By the time they entered the land, it already felt familiar.
Inside the Cast Event

Disney
In late 2025, Disney hosted a three-day event to bring everything together.
Over 5,000 cast members explored previews of Disney Adventure World through:
- Interactive exhibits and scale models
- Food tastings from upcoming restaurants
- Early looks at costumes and attractions
- Previews of the nighttime show
One favorite was when the culinary team tested over 30 mashed potato recipes for the Nordic menu. That is an amazing level of detail!
When Cast Feel It, Guests Believe It

Disney
Cast members experienced previews, rehearsals, and even early showings of the nighttime spectacular.
Many of the cast members described watching the first full rehearsal in tears, with all the feels. That emotional connection is not just felt by the cast members -it is then carried onto the guests.
Opening Day Magic

Disney
On March 29, Arendelle officially opened. Cast members lined the walkways, welcoming guests with real excitement.
From attractions to character moments, everything felt perfect- and Disney immersive training ensured that happened.
