‘Star Wars’ Fans Watched 33 Billion Minutes of Content Last Year — Here Were Their Favorites
With Star Wars Day officially upon us, millions of fans around the world are getting ready to celebrate their favorite characters, stories, and planets from the galaxy far, far away.
If you have been reading along here at MickeyBlog over the past several weeks, you know that The Walt Disney Company is celebrating May the 4th with an avalanche of new Star Wars merchandise. Additionally, we have seen new experiences debut at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Resort, which has now expanded its timeline to include stories set in the Imperial and New Republic eras.

As it turns out, however, Disney is not the only one celebrating today.
Nielsen Reveals ‘Star Wars’ Viewing Habits
To commemorate Star Wars Day 2026, Nielsen has shared insight into fans’ viewing habits.
According to Nielsen, United States viewers consumed 33 billion minutes of Star Wars content across linear television and streaming last year.

Breaking that number down, 44.2% of the viewing came from the Star Wars films. Live-action series accounted for 38.9%, followed by animated projects at 16.8% and documentaries at 0.2%.
The Most-Popular Titles
Looking at viewership by title, A New Hope was the most-watched film, followed by The Phantom Menace and Rogue One.

Andor, on the other hand, was the most-viewed live-action series, with 7.4 billion minutes streamed.
It was followed by Skeleton Crew and The Mandalorian.

Star Wars Day 2025
Reflecting on last year’s Star Wars Day, Nielsen revealed that fans consumed 637 million minutes of content on May 4 alone.
Andor was the most-viewed Star Wars title on the day, which makes sense as the series was releasing new episodes at the time.

The next most-viewed titles were A New Hope, The Phantom Menace, The Empire Strikes Back, and Revenge of the Sith.
Top Titles by Age Group
Finally, Nielsen broke down Star Wars viewership by age group for the first quarter of 2026.

To date, The Mandalorian has been the most-watched title among Baby Boomers and Gen Alpha.
Andor, on the other hand, was the top choice for Millennials and Gen X.

Finally, Gen Z’s favorite title was Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
