ABC Has Renewed ‘Scrubs’ & ‘Shifting Gears’
The 2026–2027 ABC lineup should look familiar to fans, as two more veteran sitcoms have been renewed.
According to a new report from Deadline, both Shifting Gears and Scrubs have been renewed for another season. They will join High Potential and Abbott Elementary, both of which were renewed earlier this year.

That leaves R.J. Decker as the last remaining ABC series with its future still in jeopardy.
Both Renewals Were Expected
While fans were waiting with bated breath to learn the fate of Scrubs and Shifting Gears, it should come as no surprise that both series were renewed.

Since its premiere earlier this year, the Scrubs revival has been lauded by critics and fans alike.
According to Nielsen, the revival’s premiere is the highest-rated comedy telecast on any network this year among adults ages 18–49.

The series amassed 11 million viewers across all platforms in its first 35 days. Scrubs will now return for a second revival season and its 11th overall.
Shifting Gears, on the other hand, continues to be ABC’s highest-rated comedy on linear television. The Season 2 finale was the show’s highest-rated episode since its season premiere.
