Construction of Animal Kingdom’s Indiana Jones Attraction Is Reaching a New Stage

If you have been reading along here at MickeyBlog over the last several months, you know that we have been closely following the development of the new Tropical Americas land coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Originally announced at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, the new land will replace DinoLand U.S.A. and transport guests to Pueblo Esperanza, where they will find attractions inspired by Indiana Jones and Encanto.

While construction on Tropical Americas has been underway since last year, things really accelerated when DinoLand closed in February.

The last time we checked in, significant progress had been made on the Encanto attraction’s show building.

Now, we have another update to share.

Disney Has Filed Two New Permits

Walt Disney Imagineering has filed two new Notice of Commencement permits that appear to apply to the upcoming Indiana Jones attraction.

Both documents call for the installation of set elements, with one permit assigned to Adirondack Scenic, Inc. and the other to Scenario.

While the new permits do not reveal a significant amount of detail, they may indicate that development of the Indiana Jones attraction is entering a new phase.

The Takeaway

Unlike the Encanto ride, which is being built from the ground up, the Indiana Jones attraction will reuse the existing infrastructure of DINOSAUR, which should result in a shorter construction timeline.

Based on today’s filings, it appears that the installation of show elements could begin soon.

With Tropical Americas expected to open next year, guests may not have to wait long to see what Imagineers have been working on.
