Pedro Pascal Gets Emotional Discussing ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’
After a seven-year absence, Star Wars will finally return to theaters next month with the highly anticipated The Mandalorian & Grogu.
A spinoff of the popular Disney+ series The Mandalorian, the upcoming film returns audiences to the era of the New Republic, where Din Djarin and his adorable apprentice Grogu are hunting down Imperial warlords.
“The evil Empire has fallen, and Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy. As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they have enlisted the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin and his young apprentice Grogu,” the film’s synopsis explains.

After largely helping launch Disney+, Lucasfilm is now turning to The Mandalorian to revive Star Wars’ box office prospects.

Following a seven-year theatrical hiatus, the franchise is leaning on some of its most recognizable characters. That is where Pedro Pascal and Grogu come in.
Pedro Pascal Gets Emotional
During a recent appearance at CCXP Mexico, Pascal revealed that he has long dreamed of bringing Din Djarin to the big screen. Speaking emotionally, he reflected on what the theatrical experience means to him.

“As soon as I saw this, I knew that it would be a new authorship of a streaming experience,” he said, via The Hollywood Reporter. “But I always had a dream in my heart that it would be on a big screen because that’s how I was developed as a child. I went to the movie theater so much with my family, and I saw the Star Wars movies on the big screen.”
For The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau, the upcoming film represents an opportunity to both continue the story and welcome new audiences.

“We wanted to introduce these characters to a new audience,” Favreau said. “But for the fans who have been there from the beginning, we also wanted to evolve the relationship. It is no longer just about the Mandalorian rescuing Grogu. Now Grogu has leveled up. He is a Mandalorian apprentice. And he has trained with Luke Skywalker. He is coming into his own and beginning to use his abilities.”
The Mandalorian & Grogu will hit theaters on May 22.
