Disneyland Lets Guests Opt Out of Facial Recognition at Park Entrances
If you have visited Disneyland Resort lately, you have seen some new technology popping up at the front of the parks.
Disneyland Resort is testing new facial recognition technology at the entrances to both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, and lets guests enter the parks faster.
However, guests are not required to use the new technology and have options when entering the parks.
New and Faster System
The system works by capturing an image of a guest’s face when they first use their ticket or pass.
In future entries, the system compares that image to confirm a match.
Instead of storing photos, Disney converts the images into numerical values for verification.
According to the company, those values are deleted within 30 days unless required for legal or fraud-prevention purposes.
If you prefer not to use facial recognition, you still have a choice. Traditional entrance lanes remain open along the Esplanade, where cast members manually check tickets.
Disney notes that photos may still be taken in these lanes, but biometric processing is not used.

The new technology is not appealing to everyone.
This update comes as concerns about privacy and tracking in public spaces continue to grow, making the opt-out option an important feature for many guests.
Along with the new technology, Disneyland has upgraded its entrance gates to improve accessibility. All entry points are now ADA-compliant, making it easier for guests using wheelchairs, ECVs, and strollers.
Cast members will still be present at all entrances to assist guests and ensure a smooth entry.
