NEWS: Talking Dug Meet & Greet Returns to Disney’s Animal Kingdom!
Meeting characters is one of the most exciting parts about being at Disney World. Having interactions with princesses, eating breakfast with Mickey, or seeing beloved characters in a parade are what the magic of Disney is all about!
So, it’s always exciting when a new character experience pops up in the parks. And today, a fan favorite Pixar character is BACK in Animal Kingdom!
Talking Dug Returns to Animal Kingdom
Talking Dug has returned to Animal Kingdom!
Dug is from Pixar’s Up, and he’s absolutely adorable.
The return of him talking is in honor of Earth Day, but we think he’s going to stick around for a while (well, we hope!).
Dug has been a meet and greet in Animal Kingdom for a while, but he hasn’t been able to talk since 2024. We’re so happy he’s back!
He was usually meeting with his fellow Up character, Russell, but right now, he’s just meeting on his own.
This is awesome because you can actually have a conversation with Dug! He can say a variety of things.
We heard him say things like, “Hello, human, I am Dug,” “that is a reason to be happy,” and “squirrel!”

If you’re looking for Dug, he can be found on the Discovery Island Trails West. His meeting times can be found in the My Disney Experience app.
However, note that you might not always get a talking Dug. The first Dug that was out at 8AM was talking, but the one we saw at 8:30AM “lost his batteries,” so he couldn’t talk, but then the Dug at 9AM could talk. Just know that your mileage may vary!
If you are looking for Russell, you can find him roaming around Discovery Island!
This is a recent change, since he usually met in a dedicated spot with appearance times. Right now, he is not listed in the My Disney Experience App, but he could be in the future!
