Disney Honors 2026 Environmental Champions for Earth Month
April is Earth Month, and there are some pretty special cast members who are making a real impact on sustainability, and the Walt Disney Company wants you to know about them
The 2026 Disney Environmental Champion of the Year Awards highlight individuals and teams across Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort who are reducing environmental impact through everyday work.
Inspirational Cast Members

At Walt Disney World, Jared, a senior mechanical engineer on the Facility Asset Management team, helped lead the refurbishment of Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts.
His work improved the design of the water park area, helping conserve thousands of gallons of water each day.

Housekeeping managers Tommy, Summer, and Katie from the Hotels & Resorts team lead a multi-year effort with a big impact. Single-use plastic has been removed from bath amenities and vanity kits across Walt Disney World hotels.
They helped lead the change by sourcing alternatives, designing updated packaging, and creating efficient refill processes.

At Disneyland Resort, Valerie, a retail cast member in New Orleans and Bayou Country, has driven Zero Waste to Landfill efforts.
As an area lead, Valerie teaches cast members how to reduce waste. She has also helped launch new recycling programs across retail and food-and-beverage locations.

Jason Horn, a senior sourcing specialist with forty years at Disneyland Resort, has focused on sustainable supply chains.
His work includes introducing sustainable seafood, recyclable packaging, and locally raised beef.

And finally, the Disneyland Resort Candy Production team was named Environmental Team of the Year. Their efforts reduced waste from parchment paper, plastic wrap, and food scraps.
They also partnered with Circle D Ranch to provide unused apples as treats for the park’s horses.
