Mark Hamill Gives Dave Filoni His Stamp of Approval
After months of speculation, Kathleen Kennedy officially stepped down as president of Lucasfilm earlier this year, creating a power vacuum at one of Hollywood’s premier studios.
When news first broke that Kennedy planned to leave her post, speculation immediately began over who might succeed her.

Names like Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, J. J. Abrams, and even Kevin Feige were quickly floated as possible replacements.

After months of conjecture, it was ultimately announced that Filoni and Lynwen Brennan would take over as co-presidents of Lucasfilm.

While it remains to be seen whether Kennedy’s departure and Filoni’s ascension will have a major impact on the future of the galaxy far, far away, one Star Wars legend has already given his approval.
Mark Hamill Weighs In
In a new interview with USA Today, Mark Hamill said he “can’t think of better hands” for Star Wars than Filoni’s.
After working with Filoni on The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, Hamill believes Lucasfilm has chosen the right successor to Kennedy and George Lucas.

“George was a mentor to Dave, so he knows George’s sensibility,” Hamill added.
As Hamill noted, Filoni got his start in the Star Wars universe working alongside Lucas on Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

He later continued the saga with Star Wars Rebels before transitioning into live-action with The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka.
While Hamill has also been supportive of Kennedy, he has not shied away from voicing his opinions on Star Wars creative decisions in the past.

His endorsement of Filoni, then, should carry some weight with fans.
