After a 16-month refurbishment, the Wildest Ride in the Wilderness will once again roar through Frontierland, taking guests on a high-speed adventure through the mines.
During the refurbishment, Disney upgraded Big Thunder Mountain with a track replacement, refreshed trains, updated effects, and a new Rainbow Caverns scene.

According to Disney, when the trains make their way underground, guests will find themselves surrounded by phosphorescent pools, shimmering and illuminating iridescent stalagmites and stalactites.
I, for one, can’t wait!

“Exciting news! Big Thunder Mountain Railroad reopens on May 3 with a lower height requirement. Guests 38 inches and taller will be able to ride, so even more families can enjoy this classic adventure together. That’s in addition to new show elements and ride vehicles,” he wrote.
